The park

My mom and I took Haley to the park the other day for the first time. We pushed her on the swing, she loved it! Her smile got bigger the higher we pushed her, so cute. She's still pretty small, so I had to tuck a really thick stroller blanket around her so she wouldn't slide down.
Last night I went out with some friends. I wasn't home to put Haley to bed, the first time ever. We both did great! She spent some time with Daddy, he gave her dinner, played with her and put her to bed. She only cried a little, but that was because he wanted to keep her up and play with her when it was past her bed time, he meant well. She slept right through the night as usual, she's such a good little girl :)

New food!

Haley has been introduced to most baby food now, so onto the "grown up" food we've gone. We started pieces of banana last month, she LOVES THEM! This week we've tried Nutrios (baby cheerios) and dry toast, both of which she likes. I can't really say there's any food that she hasn't liked so far, here's hoping it continues as she gets older. It's really cute to watch her eat toast. I cut it up into fingers, she just takes a piece and bites off a little at a time. It's amazing how well she does that with no teeth! As large pieces fall into her bib, rather than reaching in for them, she's figured out that she can just lift it up, and everything will fall out. She catches the large piece that she's looking for, but all the small crumbs fall on the floor. I may just have to invest in one of those mats that go under the high chair.
The weather has been so amazing lately, specially for April! We've been taking full advantage, going for walks almost every day. Haley loves the fresh air and just looking around at everything. Tomorrow I may just take her to the park.

MOM! I'm ready for our walk!

Funny Blocks

I go back to work in 4 months. Makes me so sad to think about it! I know 4 months seems like a long time, but it's been going by so fast. Guess I'm going to have to show my mom how to use the camcorder so I won't have to miss out on anything!
We usually spend some time with Haley playing on the floor in her room before bed. Last night we introduced her to some blocks one of Charlie's co-workers got her, she loved them!! She thought it was pretty funny to knock them all over when we stacked them up. She was laughing so hard, it was hilarious! I went to get the video camera, but of course she wasn't laughing nearly as hard when I got back. Oh well, at least I caught some little laughs on camera :)

Haley's first swimming class...

Yesterday was Haley's first experience with water, other than the bath tub of course. We took her to the YMCA in Shawnessy, where we were signed up for a 12 week class on Saturdays. Their classes have children ranging from 3 months to 5 years, which in my opinion is too large an age range. The plan was for Charlie to take her in, while I took pictures and video taped, but our plans didn't exactly work out. I got a couple of photos of her right after they changed, but as soon as the life guards saw me with the camera, they told me I wasn't allowed to take pictures or video tape in the pool area. I sort of understand that for the sake of the people around you, but it really stinks to not be able to capture your little one's fist experience with swimming. So off they went into the pool. Haley was fine, she liked the water. The class started and they did a little floating activity, she looked SO CUTE! She was holding onto Daddy's hands (or should I say, he was holding onto hers), and the rest of her was out in the star fish position, she was quite happy. Then the group walked around in a circle, singing and bouncing up and down, she seemed to like that too. Then the singing got louder and the splashing started. All of a sudden she started to scream! I think she was just really scared. I came over, Charlie handed her to me and she was fine. I gave her a little cuddle, then tried to have her go back in the water with Daddy. At that point they were having the kids jump off the side of the pool into the water, she wanted nothing to do with it. She was just screaming, so I took her back. That was that.... We got her dried, changed and went to the front desk to get a refund for the other 11 classes. We'll try it again sometime, but as a family, in a less stressful environment. Maybe she'd enjoy this type of thing when she's older, but for now it's not happening.

Today Haley just wanted to sleep most of the day. She took 3 naps, the last one was almost 3 hours long. Then she wanted to go to bed at 6pm, but we were able to stretch it out until 7:15pm after her bath. Uncle Shaun (Charlie's brother) was here to visit, so at least they got a little time together. He attempted to read her a bed time story, but she was so tired, he only got half way through it. Oh well, it was still a good day :)

Gotta love Calgary weather!!!

I've been trying to go out for a walk with Haley every day. Yesterday we went for a nice long walk, up to the grocery store to meet Grandma, then walked back. It was nice and sunny when we left, but something was blowing in. I got quite the workout walking up hill against the strong wind. Good thing we got home when we did, cause it started to snow shortly after. Gotta love going from capris and a light sweater, to winter boots, all within a few hours.

Haley loves Nikko (our cat). It's amazing what that poor little guy will put up with. Haley pulls his whiskers, ears and hair, yet he never does anything in return. I need to teach her not to though, cause one day she'll do that to the wrong cat.

Happy Easter!

We had a really nice Easter weekend. Daddy had 4 days off, so he got some work done in the garage, but also had lots of time to hang out with Haley. She was a little angel all weekend. We had family dinners on Saturday and Sunday, she did great at both. Of course she got spoiled too, being that it was her first Easter. It's so fun to watch her with new things. With all of the gifts she got, she was more interested in the boxes, tissue paper, and tags. After opening the blanky set she received from grandma and grandpa, she started searching through the box, looking for tags. It was so funny watching her attempt to pick them up. Once she managed to get them, they went straight into her mouth. Too cute!

1st Band Aid

Haley has had a pretty good week, although she did receive her first head wound. She was sitting on her change pad, leaned forward, and bumped her forehead on the diaper caddy (she was really tired and sort of fell forward). Poor thing ended up with a little cut and small bruise above her left eyebrow. She was such a little trooper about it though, only cried for about 10 seconds, then she was smiling and laughing. Of course I cried for about an hour, since it was the first time my little monkey got hurt. Good thing daddy was home to get out the polysorin and piglet band aid.
It's funny, with all of the toys Haley has sitting around her, she'd rather play with her remote control.
